URLs can be mind-blowingly long if they are auto-generated. We realized that these long URLs were breaking some processes of our S-Drive customers, hence we took the lead on fixing that problem. With a couple of simple steps, admins can set up short URLs for files.
As part of 2.1 release, we associated each feature we enabled with a wonder. Machu Picchu is the one for short URLs.
The Inca city of Machu Picchu in Peru is one of the most interesting places to visit in the world. Machu Picchu was built around 1450 and was abandoned a hundred years later, during the Spanish inquest.
We picked Machu Picchu because it covers an area of 80536 acres or approximately 353 square kilometers! If you are planning to visit it, get ready for a long, long walk! If you are used to Amazon URLs, they are very long too. Thanks to this feature, we do not need to deal with these long URLs anymore. We wonder if they can find a way to shorten the distance for walking around Machu Pichu as well.
Next week, we will talk about the last wonder of this release, Sending Files via Email to Users. Stay tuned!
